Mind-Muscle Connection for Life
Think about your average day. From the time you wake up to the time you go to bed, how many different types of movements do you do, just to perform your routine? How often do you think about movements like getting out of bed, cooking breakfast, or driving? And most importantly, at the end of the day, how much do you experience in aches, pains, and general discomfort?
The average American is now largely sedentary during their day simply due to the demands of modern work. Unfortunately, a sedentary lifestyle greatly contributes to muscle tightness, imbalance, and deterioration. Worse, being sedentary during the day contributes to mental fatigue that makes it more difficult to want to be active during off-hours.
When it comes to issues with health and strength for life, the common progression is this:
-Long stretches of sedentary time lead to imbalances and tightness
-Imbalance and tightness lead to atrophy and poor mind-muscle connection
-Poor muscle connection causes compensation
-Compensation causes pain.
So what is Mind-Muscle Connection and how can we rebuild it for a healthier life?
Mind-Muscle Connection is the ability to feel and consciously control the desired muscle to perform a specific movement. For example, when you squat to stand up from the couch, can you feel and use your glute muscles, or are you compensating and putting excessive pressure on your knees?
Our LifeStrong class is designed to help EVERYONE – from working adults to youth athletes – be better able to feel and use the musculature needed to perform movements in a way that is healthy and strong. LifeStrong workouts target specific muscle groups and help you learn to strengthen your weaknesses while helping to alleviate tightness. Workouts are simple but not simplistic, and at the end of the day you will have gained strength without having to worry about excessive soreness the following day!
