Interval Bodybuilding: What Is It?
Interval Bodybuilding is a unique style of training that has gained some popularity since 2015, and is still steadily growing thanks to accounts like @marcusfilly and @ryanfischer who I would credit with the development and popularization of the training.
At Big Bend Strength and Conditioning, We’ve been experimenting over the last year and have found some great ways to implement this method of training, especially as a supplement to our BarbellStrong and LifeStrong Classes!
So what is it?
Interval Bodybuilding essentially takes isolation exercises used to build muscle in a specific body part, and combines it with high intensity interval training to make sure you are doing the best work you could possibly do. This method opposes the tradition hypertrophy model of performing reps in the 8-12 rep range for 3-5 sets (which does work really well) and forces the person to do the most amount of reps at the specific weight the person is using possible in a short, repeatable time.
This results in a massive pump, and builds muscle like you’ve never experienced!
