3 Mistakes People Make When Attempting a PR
These are the Three BIGGEST mistakes people make when maxing out.
1) Tying a PR: This is the most guaranteed way to not PR. By doing this you ensure that you are going to be fairly tired for your next lift. DO NOT TIE A PR.
2) Attempting too big of a PR: Don’t get greedy people. A 1kg PR is still a PR. attempting 5kg PR’s is the most likely way to ensure you miss. I also recommend ending on the 1kg PR, and not going up, but that depends on your style of training.
3) Not planning your attempts on the way up to a PR: Assuming you want to follow rules 1 and 2, that means you are going to need a plan. Typically I recommend sticking to your normal routine as you build up in weight, then your last warm up should be 3-5kg/5lbs under your previous PR, then 1kg or 5lbs over your previous PR for your new PR.
