How to Get Started in Weightlifting
Getting started in the sport of weightlifting can be intimidating, but hopefully this article is helpful!
Your first step is going to be finding a coach. While you can learn weightlifting without one, it’s always more ideal to find one in person as real time feedback is invaluable. USA Weightlifting has a fantastic “Find a Club” tool which you can find HERE. This will allow you to find a club up to 100 miles in your zip code!
Once you’ve found the club, reach out to schedule a session or to join their team! If you are lucky enough to have multiple clubs in your area, then try a few places out! Every club is different, so you’ll want to make sure the club you join has the right vibes for you! Once you join up, the coach will teach you everything you need to know, and get you started on your journey in weightlifting!
If you do not have any clubs near you, or cannot make it work with their schedule, worry not! It is completely possible to learn weightlifting online! I highly recommend watching the videos below from my old coach and mentor, the late Glenn Pendlay.
Practice the drills that Coach teaches in the videos and you’ll be well on your way!
