Strength Ratios Part 3

If you follow us on TikTok, you’ve probably seen posts on our page about strength ratios and how we use them to guide training. These videos are BLOWING up right now, so we’re going to share some of them here for you!

Remember that ratios are just a good way to find weaknesses, not the end all be all of training. Everyone is different, and therefore no ratio is perfect. Simply put, give it a try, and if you surprise yourself by finding something you didn’t know was a weakness, maybe implement it in your next training program.

The third ratio we focus on is single arm pulling in comparison to double arm pulling and double leg pulling. Generally, most people should be able to Dumbbell Bent Over Row 20-25% of your 1RM Deadlift, or your 6RM Barbell Bent Over Row, for 6 reps on each side. Typically, people who struggle with this tend to also deadlift with a switch grip, and have created some imbalances from left to right. This can also show if you have a grip strength issue in a neutral grip versus the more frequently trained overhand grip. Give this a try, and if you notice a significant difference from left to right on your rows, start adding them in 2-3x per week!
