Speed Kills

Here’s a quick training tip for the next time you are lifting.

Practice all of your lifts as fast as possible.

Particularly your static strength lifts like Squats, Pulls, and Presses, all of which feel lighter when they move faster. Next time you are lifting heavy, practice each of your warm up reps from the empty barbell to a PR weight with as much speed as possible. Pay attention to how weights that normally feel slow and grindy, now move with the same speed light weights do. The goal here is to practice being fast, as there is no benefit to practicing being slow.
