Mind The Gaps

I heard a talk recently from the late Chris Moore about the importance of accessory work in training. He brought up an interesting point that I thought I’d like to share with you.

Think of your entire physical abilities as a jar, and if that jar is filled all the way up, that is the fittest, strongest, or fastest we could possibly be. Doing the big lifts like Presses, Squats, Deadlifts, Snatches, and Clean & Jerks are a great way to fill that jar up with big marbles. You can fill that jar up all the way to the top with marbles, but is that jar actually full? No, absolutely not! Fill the gaps with things like Dumbbell Rows, Pulldowns, Hamstring Curls, Sled Training, and Sandbags. These things, the little things, the things that fill in the gaps, add up. Mind the gaps.

You can hear the talk from @barbellbuddha here starting at the 21 min mark, I highly recommend listening to his entire podcast, as well as reading his book.
